Thursday, February 6th, for the 5th time, our ORBIT Lab community and collaborators came together to celebrate and be inspired by the awesome and innovative projects at The Orbies, Winter 2020. Students, researchers, industry experts and tech startup leaders experienced a wide range of techy products and prototypes ranging from autonomous drone delivery systems, over distributed machine learning solutions for image processing to new keyboard technology for hand-impaired users. Groups with projects ranging from recent startup ideas to Master Thesis projects competed to win the prestigious golden Orbies Statuettes. A highly skilled and high-profile Panel of Judges made up of industry experts and researchers awarded five of the best projects with statuettes in five categories. ORBIT Lab celebrated students’ creativity and tech skills at The Orbies

February 21st, ORBIT Lab, Aarhus University School of Engineering’s innovation and tech lab, gathered more than 100 students, staff and representatives from the industry for the award ceremony event The Orbies. Here, engineering students presented their projects from the past semester, and a panel of judges from the industry awarded Orbie statuettes to the best projects. Leading up to the event, staff and students were able to nominate projects from the past semester that had made a particular impression – e.g. projects with a high level of technical accomplishment and a creative solution to a problem. Best Pitch: Aarhus Harbour Bath – Rasmus Hemmingsen, Nicklas Nielsen and Anders Meidahl At the recently opened Harbour Bath in Aarhus, a maximum of 650 visitors are allowed. To prevent visitor overload, the Municipality of Aarhus have placed four security guards near the entrances. These guards are responsible for keeping count of visitors.
