Entrepreneurship (Pilot) Camp

Entrepreneurship and innovative processes are key skills for any engineering professional working with problem-solving in technology development, production, consulting, case management etc. These concepts have become crucial to the success of millennials in the job market. The Entrepreneurship (Pilot) Camp introduced the main concepts in the field and it aimed to equip participants with the right set of means to enable individual/team empowerment, self-sufficiency, and sustainable development of your projects/ideas.

Outcomes of the Entrepreneurship (Pilot) Camp can be listed as:
• Tools to strengthen the entrepreneurial mindset.
• Fast track test your study/course/thesis project – make it a potential entrepreneurial concept.
• Get to know the student incubator opportunities at the faculty of Science and Technology.
• Grab the opportunity to meet with students from different disciplines.
• Enjoy the food/music and get a CERTIFICATE of Participation!

The first camp was organized in two days:
– Day 1 on May 12 (9:00 – 21:00) and
– Day 2 on May 14 (16:00 – 21:00).

Day 1 was developed in three parts:

Part A consisted of playing the ESHIP Game – Navigating Uncertainty, which is an ST/AU based game. Players test their team-based decision-making abilities within the safe environment of a game. They role-play, discuss, narrate, and make strategic decisions under uncertain conditions simulated by characters, traits, unforeseen events, team-communication, and time pressure. Part B was a double-lecture on How to start small and think big – ideas and startups (for students) & How to find the time and inspiration – tools and methods. Lectures are interactive sessions, where Q&A is encouraged and multimedia is used (videos, cases and more). Homework readings were introduced in relation to the lectures and guidelines were given on how to approach entities whose work is in entrepreneurship.
Part C was a series of workshops/hands-on exercises, based on the Double Diamond from the Design Thinking method. Three teams of students with diverse backgrounds went through a rapid innovation process using UN Sustainable Development Goals as inspiration. Last part of day 1 was finalized with a short description of an idea/solution that would be carried out for the session on day 2.

Day 2 had Pitch Training as the core activity.

Participants were introduced to different techniques on pitching and presentations, followed up by tips and tricks for pitch design and pitch delivery. Peer feedback was an essential part of the day and enabled learning from the participants with multi-disciplinary backgrounds.

The Entrepreneurship Camp is part of EiU (Entrepreneurship in Education) Project. The camps are developed so that the content will appeal to the widest possible audience of students.
